If you mention tarot to most business leaders, you will most likely see raised eyebrows. Tarot, for the majority of people, immediately conjures up images of fortune tellers predicting the future with different levels of accuracy but absolute certainty.

But what if tarot wasn’t about predicting the future, but instead was used as a way of creating space to rethink the present with clearer goals and a stronger mindset?

Why Successful People Still Get Stuck

When I work with clients, whether they’re business owners, executives or individuals navigating significant life decisions, I often find the biggest obstacle isn’t a lack of knowledge. It’s that they’re too close to the problem. They see the same picture from the same angle, repeatedly arriving at the same conclusions and feeling stuck or uncertain in their decision or path.

As with so many things in life, sometimes just stopping, pausing and reframing the situation can bring more clarity and, in turn, give us better results. Better than not being fully sure and jumping in with both feet because leadership subconsciously teaches us that action is needed.

But strategic leaders and people in business would be better off if they slowed down a little and allowed themselves to choose a path rooted in clarity rather than urgency.

It is important to see what the hustle culture of constant rushing and fixing is actually hiding. This is where I believe tarot is an incredible tool for mindset and problem-solving.

Tarot as a Tool for Clarity

In my work as a hypnotherapist or mind coach, I never use the cards to tell people what will happen next, but I do use them as metaphors and prompts for conversation and reflection.

A card always raises a question or thought rather than an answer, and it encourages people to think about possibilities that they had either dismissed or not thought of before.

Much like in mentoring, when we challenge people’s assumptions, the cards create a perspective that you use. The cards have no power, but thinking creates a power that you can use.

When I work with successful people, I encourage them to schedule time away from the day-to-day hustle culture because a different perspective creates better outcomes.

People frequently journal, walk or seek counsel before making a significant choice. This is just another mechanism to serve the same purpose.

The thoughts and direction are a mindset of personal growth and not prediction.

Remaining curious is a superpower of an entrepreneur. Looking for ways to explore alternative options and do what has not been done before. Questioning their own thinking delivers stronger results.

This is where insight thrives. It is knowing that you may or may not have the answers. Regardless of where the insight comes from, coaching, mindfulness, reading or even the tarot, it’s the result that matters. Stronger decisions come from a broader perspective.

Through years of helping people through hypnosis and mindset training, I believe that all change happens with awareness, regardless of whether it’s addressing anxiety, stress or removing limiting beliefs.

The most effective change happens when people ask themselves different questions, not when they are given an answer. Tarot simply provides another way of creating those questions. Used this way, it isn’t mystical, weird or devil work; it’s strategically mindful.

The future has never been written.

The decisions we make today shape the one we create tomorrow. And the legacy we leave behind us.

You should try it and see how it helps you!
